23 injured in serious bus crash on Interstate 65

A bus crash can be terrifying for the people inside as well as others who may be following them. For example, if your child is heading to a football game with his or her school and is on the bus ahead of your car, it would be a nightmare to see your child’s vehicle crash.

That’s what happened in this case that resulted in 23 students being hospitalized when they were involved in a bus collision, according to a Nov. 19 news report. The collision involved students of the Chester County Beta Club who were traveling to a convention in Gaylord Opryland.

The students were injured when the bus they were in flipped on Interstate 65. The Nashville Fire Department came to the scene and reported that three students were critically injured in the crash. One suffered from a broken collarbone, while two others suffered severe injuries to their arms. Fortunately, none of the injuries were considered to be life-threatening, and all the students are expected to recover.

What happened to cause the bus to flip? The news claims that the driver lost control of the vehicle, and the bus went off the left side of the exit ramp. It was then that the driver overcorrected the vehicle and struck a guardrail. It overturned, taking the 46 people inside with it.

Twenty-three students had to be taken to the hospital following the crash. It’s not clear what caused the driver to lose control, but the 28-year-old claimed she felt steering issues and that the wind was hitting the bus at the time. The highway patrol is allegedly looking into the mechanical condition of the bus.
