65-year-old man killed in Tennessee car crash
A 65-year-old man was killed in a recent multivehicle crash in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. He became the fourth victim of a fatal accident in the park this year.
The man, from Talking Rock, Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred on Newfound Gap Road near mile marker 25, according to a news release issued by park officials.
The accident occurred when the driver of a pickup truck belonging to an area auto sales and service company lost control. The pickup was pulling a flatbed trailer, which was hauling another pickup truck.
When the driver lost control, the flatbed trailer fishtailed and hit the man’s Kia Sorento and two other oncoming cars.
A woman riding in the Sorento and the driver of a Chevrolet Trailblazer were airlifted by helicopter to a hospital with undisclosed injuries, according to the news release. A woman driving a Honda Pilot, along with her two passengers, were taken by ambulance to a hospital.
Conditions of the patients were not available immediately.
Earlier this year, a 55-year-old Florida woman died after she fell off her bicycle on a park road. A 19-year-old Tennessee motorcyclist was killed in a motorcycle accident. And lastly, a 55-year-old Indiana woman died in a car crash on yet another park road.
In the most recent accident, the Georgia man and his traveling companion seemingly were victims of the negligence of another driver. An attorney who works with car accident cases in Tennessee could offer advice to the woman as she recovers from her injuries or to the survivors of the man who unfortunately lost his life.
