Tennessee truck accident leaves driver in critical condition

Truck accidents in the state of Tennessee have been known to result in serious injuries. Recently, the driver of a flatbed truck was seriously injured after his truck was sideswiped by a tractor-trailer. The truck accident happened on a Tuesday afternoon and occurred on Interstate 40 in the vicinity of the Strawberry Plains interchange.

The 40-year-old flatbed truck driver was travelling west when he was sideswiped by the tractor-trailer. The impact caused the flatbed truck to go over the bridge rail. The truck crashed onto the road underneath the bridge. Emergency personnel had to disentangle the victim from the severely crushed truck. He was airlifted to a medical center in the region where his injuries were listed as critical.

Fortunately, nobody else was involved in the truck accident. The incident is still under investigation. The 68-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer might have to face charges, depending on the outcome of the investigation. If the investigation reveals any evidence showing that the driver of the tractor-trailer was negligent in any way, the victim and/or his family may elect to pursue a civil claim against the alleged negligent driver in order to recoup damages.

In Tennessee, a victim of a truck accident who suffered serious injuries may institute a personal injury claim. Monetary damages from a successfully litigated lawsuit could help the victim better cope with medical bills, rehabilitation costs and any lost wages due to missing time from work. Should the critically injured driver succumb to his injuries, his family may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim. A successful wrongful death claim could allow the family to better cope with their unfortunate expenses, such as funeral and burial costs.
