Devastating Labor Day car wreck kills mother, injures baby

A traumatic accident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. on Labor Day. A Tennessee mother died in the car wreck, while her baby daughter was seriously injured.  Four other people were also injured in the accident.

Reportedly, a 70-year-old minivan driver crossed over from his westbound lane into the eastbound lane. The head-on collision that followed resulted in the death of the other driver, said to be 37 years old. The minivan driver and his three passengers, two teenagers and a 35-year-old woman, were all injured.

All the injured were transported to a hospital in the area. Little is known about the condition of the injured, though the baby’s father indicated that both of her legs and one arm were fractured. It is not clear if the occupants of the minivan were in related. According to an eyewitness, who was out cycling at the time of the crash, at least two occupants of the minivan seemed to be hurt badly.  

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has indicated that charges will be filed. Regardless of the outcome of any criminal charges, the deceased victim’s husband may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the allegedly negligent driver. Any of the seriously injured victims, or the family of the under aged victims may elect to file personally injury claims. Successfully litigated civil claims may result in a financial award for damages sustained by victims of the car wreck. This could help ease a family’s financial suffering during a time when they are already emotionally hurting.
