Teen girl killed in Knox County pickup crash

A 15-year-old girl was killed days before Christmas in a crash on Millertown Pike in East Knox County, Tennessee.

In the incident, two pickup trucks ran into each other, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Four other people were injured in the crash, and their conditions were not available.

The sheriff’s office said alcohol was involved in the crash and that a 27-year-old Knoxville man will face criminal charges.

When first responders arrived at the scene of the accident, one of the pickups was on fire. The driver facing the charges was alone in his vehicle, and four people, including the girl who died, were in the other pickup, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office’s Accident Reconstruction Team was leading the investigation into the crash.

According to the girl’s obituary, she left behind a large family that includes five nieces and nephews. She enjoyed attending church with her family and looked forward to becoming a ministry leader when she got older. She liked to paint, draw and cook, enjoyed Marvel movies and comics, and was ” a quirky girl who wasn’t afraid to be herself, despite being a little shy.”

That family missed her at Christmas and will miss the milestones of her life: her driver’s license, school dances, high school graduation and whatever would have followed that. Her siblings are without their youngest sister and their children without a role model in their aunt. Her parents will have costs of her funeral and must endure the tremendous pain and suffering that parents go through when they lose a child way too early.
