Tennessee car accident injures several people in Bumpus Mills

Multiple people were taken to Tennessee hospitals after a collision that happened on June 24 on Highway 120 in Bumpus Mills. Authorities believe that a 26-year-old woman driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee decided to make a left turn into Dean’s Market. However, she turned into the path of an oncoming pickup truck and realized she was in danger of causing a car accident.

Both drivers attempted maneuvers to avoid the crash but were unsuccessful. The drivers veered in and out of lanes while trying to avoid the collision. They struck each other nearly head-on in the southbound lane of the highway.

The injured included three passengers in the Jeep and both drivers. The Jeep driver and passengers were taken with serious injuries to local hospitals, including Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. The pickup truck driver’s injuries were listed as non-life threatening.

Tennessee police are continuing to investigate the truck accident, and as they do, they will review all available evidence. Once the investigation is concluded, they may be able to answer the question of what happened to cause the injury accident. To date, they suspect that it was a failure to yield and not alcohol, speed or other contributing factors that caused the crash.

The results of the police investigation may lead to criminal charges or traffic citations. Until then the focus will remain on the recovery of the injured victims, and decisions concerning the right to file personal injury claims for reimbursement of monetary damages could follow publication of an official accident report.
