Tennessee car accidents, 6-year-old dead, 2 others injured

There’s no mistaking that driving on Tennessee roadways can be dangerous. Sadly, car accidents are a common occurrence. When someone dies as a result, emotions can take over. Emotions are even higher when a child has lost their life due to a car accident.

Recently, a 6-year-old boy was killed in Williamson County. Authorities report that the accident occurred at just about 3:30 p.m. as a man was driving a pickup truck. For an unknown reason, his vehicle started to veer off the roadway. In an attempt to get back on the road, he struck a car driven by a 27-year-old woman. The pickup truck swerved down an embankment and overturned, and the car flipped over but ultimately landed upright.

The woman sustained injuries, but the extent of her injuries has not been released. The driver of the truck was not injured. Another child that was also a passenger in the woman’s car sustained injuries. The boy that passed away was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Criminal charges are expected against the pickup driver, and he could face civil litigation as well. When children lose their lives in car accidents, it has devastating consequences — not only for the victim but for family and loved ones as well. In addition to a wrongful death claim filed by the deceased boy’s family, the injured woman and child retain the right to file a personal injury claim against the driver of the truck. In this car accident, the court system in Tennessee commonly resolves these matters based upon evidence that negligence from another other party caused injury or death of another.
