Tennessee car accidents lead to injuries and deaths

Multiple Tennessee first-response agencies were called in to handle a devastating crash on July 7. The car accident occurred in the Knoxville area on Wears Valley Road, west of Ogles View Drive around 6:42 a.m. The fatal collision was just one of at least two deadly car accidents that happened in the area over the weekend.

A man and his family were traveling north in a Honda when they were struck head-on by a Ford Ranger that had crossed into their lane from the southbound direction. The violent impact caused so much damage to the Honda that all of its passengers had to be extracted from the car. That rescue operation alone took approximately 75 minutes.

Head-on car accidents can be deadly, and this one was no different. Three of those in the Honda died as a result of the crash. The other occupant, a 20-year-old woman, was taken to a local Tennessee hospital. The nature and extent of her injuries were not detailed.

Police are investigating the cause of the fatal accident. In car accidents such as this, they typically review all circumstances leading up to the fatalities. As they continue their efforts, they will hopefully determine exactly why the Ford truck crossed the road that early morning. As they do, the surviving member of the family who was riding in the Honda will likely have to begin to deal with the enormous loss suffered along with the recovery from her injuries. Whether personal injury and wrongful death actions will be filed in connection with the fatal accident remains to be seen.
