Tennessee fatal crashes: Two people killed while walking

An accident recently occurred when a 26-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were walking across the interstate. Tennessee highways usually leave people vulnerable to fatal crashes, especially pedestrians. While walking, they were allegedly struck and killed by another vehicle. They were both declared dead at the scene.

The deadly incident reportedly occurred in the middle of the night after the two had been involved in a minor accident. The couple left their vehicle and went across the highway for an unknown reason. While they were walking to get back to the other side, the driver of a Chevy slammed right into them. The 23-year-old female driver and her 43-year-old occupant in the Chevy both sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The exact details of their conditions are unknown, however, they both have been released. The road was closed down by authorities for approximately 5 hours during the preliminary investigation. No citations or arrests have been reported in this incident. Authorities are still investigating the crash.

Fatal crashes usually leave surviving relatives, friends and other loved ones in a state of grief. Depending on the outcome of this investigation, the driver of the Chevy may be held liable for the accident and face civil litigation. The families may elect to pursue wrongful death lawsuits against the driver to seek recovery of damages associated with the crash. The civil court system in Tennessee typically adjudicates these types of lawsuits and awards financial compensation if evidence demonstrates that the other party was negligent.
