Tennessee truck accident takes life of 2-year-old boy

At least one Tennessee family has suffered a terrible loss that is the nightmare of many parents. One of six children riding in a van that was involved in a truck accident on May 18 has died as a result of the injuries he suffered in the crash. The van was traveling on U.S. Highway 78 near Blue Springs when it crashed into a dump truck. Three others were injured as a result of the collision.

The nature and extent of the additional injuries to the other people involved in the truck accident was not reported. The 2-year-old boy who died in the crash had been receiving medical treatment for his injuries at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital prior to his death. It was additionally unclear if the others who were injured included any of the five other children who were in the van at the time of the Tennessee truck accident, and there was no further word on their updated medical conditions.

As is normal in fatal accidents, local police are continuing to investigate all aspects of this tragic accident. They will likely review all available evidence of the truck accident to determine the cause of the collision. This review often includes speaking with both the driver of the van and of the dump truck that was involved, studying the skid marks made just prior to the collision and taking any witness statements, along with a close inspection of the damaged vehicles.

All of this evidence will assist investigators in learning as much as they can about the tragic truck accident that took the life of such a young child as they work to determine if any laws were broken and who may have been at fault in causing the tragic collision.
